Financial Documents
Dear Members,
This June 2011, the University of Victoria Students' Society 2011-2012 budget was approved by the Board of Directors, and an updated version was ratified by students at the October 2011 Annual General Meeting. Audited financial statements for the 2010-2011 fiscal year were also made available at that time. For the first time in several years, our finances are on an upward trend, moving slowly away from the accumulated internal debt and towards being on track to meet head-on the fiscal challenges of the future.
This would not have been possible without the support of students in the November 2010 fee referendums, and now we can say with some confidence that you have "saved the SUB". Thank you. The Students' Society is run for students, by students. If you wish to take part in the financial decision-making of the Society, contact me and you'll be added to Finance Committee email list.
Sincerely,
Dylan Sherlock
Director of Finance and Operations

UVSS Membership Fees (Interactive Table)
Following the rules governing university students' societies laid down in the University Act and the bylaws of the Society, all undergraduate students at the University of Victoria are automatically fee-paying members of the Students' Society. Fees are collected by the university and remitted to the students' society. By law, fees are created, altered or removed only by democratic referendums of students. A fee may only be used for the purpose described in the referendum which establishes it. The below chart shows the current referendum allocations and gives a snapshot of how UVSS fees are distributed amongsvarious campus initiatives. It should be noted that part-time fees are generally prorated at approximately half the amount of the full-time fee amount which is described in the table below. Roll over the chart to see what each fee is and what it amounts to.
