BC has the highest interest rates on student loans in Canada and is the only province without a provincial grants program.  Universities and colleges are being forced to implement major cutbacks due to funding shortfalls.  Students across the province are graduating with staggering amounts of student debt.%3c/p%3e%3cdiv style%3d%22text-align%3a left%3b%22%3e%3c/div%3e%3cp style%3d%22text-align%3a left%3b%22%3eAs a part of the Where%26rsquo%3bs the Funding%3f%21 Campaign organized by BC students%2c I am writing you this letter to put forward a few simple asks.  Here are some things that your government could do for students that would be a great start to making up for a decade of lost funding%3a%3c/p%3e%3cdiv style%3d%22text-align%3a left%3b%22%3e%3cul%3e%3cli%3eEliminate interest rates on student loans.%3c/li%3e%3cli%3eRe-establish a provincial needs-based grants program.%3c/li%3e%3cli%3eIncrease core funding for colleges and universities.%3c/li%3e%3c/ul%3e%3c/div%3e%3cp style%3d%22text-align%3a left%3b%22%3eI know that we share the view that investing in post-secondary education is an investment in students%2c families and the economy.  I am calling on the BC government to re-align its investment priorities and put post-secondary education back at the top where it belongs.%3c/p%3e%3cdiv style%3d%22text-align%3a left%3b%22%3e%3c/div%3e
