Welcome to UVic Greens!
UVic Students’ Voice to the Green Party

Who We Are

We are a growing group of students concerned about the direction the province and country is headed--fiscally, socially and environmentally.

We envision a government that simply balances the books, treats people with dignity, and properly cares for our environmental heritage.

Like most British Columbians, most of us have never been involved in politics.  But each of us have come to the conclusion that, in order to create the government and world we want to live in, it is important to act--on an ongoing basis.  As Greens, we’ve decided that, rather than merely protest, write letters to government, and wish governments would perform on behalf of citizens, it is incumbent on us as citizens to form that government.  And that while we work to form that government, the stronger the Green Party gets, the more the Green Party sets the political agenda of other parties!

Well, our name gives it away—obviously, we support the Green Party of BC in this very goal.  And in the Green Party, you’ll find few career politicians; for the most part, you’ll find people just like you and me, who are devoting their otherwise busy lives to help make British Columbia, and the world, a better place.  Please join us, even just in your own small way, as we help the Green Party of BC form the government we all desire!

UVic Greens is an autonomous group of students that speaks not only for the Green Party, but to the Green Party—for you!  In other words, while we do support the principles and goals of the Green Party of BC, we are not a subsidiary of the Party.  So please, give us your ideas and feedback on the Party, and we will be happy to see that it gets to the right people!

Our activities include non-partisan voter registration and outreach, awareness raising on progressive issues, cooperating with other progressive groups, clarifying what the Green Party of BC is all about through poster and banner campaigns, as well as the fun events listed in events.htm!

Want to know more about the Green Party of BC?  Be sure to read our brochure, “The Little Green Book”, too, to find out why Times Colonist referred to the Green Party’s platform the most comprehensive in the 2001 election.  Or check out the Green Party’s official Green Book online.

In the meantime, come find out how fun replacing old, unworkable ideas with new, cool ones can really be!!!
